There are so many fantastic webinars and blog posts this time of year, about planning and thinking positively.  I’ve enjoyed them all and in the spirit of that planning, I made my vision board yesterday.

What’s the purpose of the vision board?

Two things, both of which retrain the brain for success:

  1. Affirmation
  2. Subliminal Messaging

So I used Adobe Spark to make visual affirmations.  As you can see, I kept it simple.

I AM A WRITER.

Doing NaNoWriMo in November made something possible that I had never considered before, which is increasing writing volume.  I took a leap, and then did the work.  The end result is that I got faster and I hit my word count goals.

Even after the magical deadline of Nov. 30th passed, I now had incentive to finish what I had started.  So yesterday, I did that.  47 scenes and just under 60k words, I now have a shitty first draft.  Parts of it are horrifying but also, parts of it make me happy because I was writing and I love that.  So 2017 is about doing what I love and I hope you do the same.
